1 We will journey south via I-26 (Columbia) and I-95 (Savannah), with a special stop along the way. Late this afternoon we arrive in our nation’s oldest and one of the most charming cities, St. Augustine, Florida. Cobblestone streets lead to historic churches, history museums, antique stores and charming cafes and shops. This will be our home for the next two nights.
2 The day starts with our own private trolley tour of the city; it highlights the best of St. Augustine. We will learn the rich history, attractions and sights of this unique city. It is filled with colonial Spanish neighborhoods, magnificent buildings and a charm all its own. We tour Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest remaining European fort in the United States, and visit the Fountain of Youth and the Lightner Museum. The Museum showcases beautiful works of cut glass and the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
3 Rev your engines – we are off to the Daytona International Speedway for a behind-the-scenes tour, which includes the Drivers Meeting Room, a ride along the race track, a visit to Gatorade Victory Lane and much more. This afternoon allows time to take a leisurely stroll along the sun-bleached beaches, pick up a few sea shells, go for a dip in the ocean or simply relax with a good book under a breezy palm.
4 Our getaway was a nice break, but now it is time to head home and start planning for the next trip! |
